Skill development through the scheme of Community Development through Polytechnics

Technical Education in the country is being imparted at Diploma, Degree and Post Graduate level, Diploma level programmes are being conducted at polytechnics and in some cases in universities also. There is also a societal perception that degrees command a premium in the job market rather than diplomas.
Central Government has approved a Scheme of “Submission on Polytechnics under Coordinated Action for Skill Development”. The Sub-mission has the following components.

• Establishment of new polytechnics
• Strengthening of Existing Polytechnics
• Expansion of Community Polytechnic scheme
• Construction of Women’s Hostel in Polytechnic
